Question 1

How do I find free Wi-Fi with WiFiDrop?

Accepted Answer

Browse the U.S. map, or search by venue name, city, or ZIP code. You can also use your current location and sort by the nearest listings when those options are available. Check the venue listing’s purchase-requirement field before you go. A blank or unknown field is not proof that Wi-Fi is free.

Question 2

What can I learn from a venue listing?

Accepted Answer

A listing may show the venue’s name, location, address, city, state, category, hours, outlet information, purchase requirements, submitted details, and last verified date. When a value is unavailable, WiFiDrop shows it as unknown rather than inferring an answer.

Question 3

What is a community check-in?

Accepted Answer

A community check-in is a visitor report about a venue, and no account is needed to submit one. It can include a connection status—Connected, Could not connect, or Not tested—along with optional speed, seating, and outlet answers.

Question 4

How should I interpret community check-in summaries?

Accepted Answer

Venue pages can show visitor report counts, monthly connection-status history, and the latest check-in date when present. These reports are shown as submitted and are unverified. WiFiDrop does not calculate a reliability percentage from them.

Question 5

Does a community check-in guarantee Wi-Fi is working now?

Accepted Answer

No. Community information is useful context, not a live guarantee of current Wi-Fi availability, speed, access, or venue policy. Confirm the current situation when you arrive.

Question 6

What should I do if venue information is missing or inaccurate?

Accepted Answer

Do not guess at unknown or missing fields. Open the venue page and use “Report inaccurate information” to send the issue for review.

Question 7

How can I add a venue or help WiFiDrop?

Accepted Answer

Use the Submit a listing form at /submit-listing. No account is needed. Submissions are unverified and stay off the public map until they are reviewed and approved.
